CCDI is very proud & extremely excited to announce that our first ever grad, Malik Johnson ‘15, has begun a new career chapter this week with icon Mechanical! Malik has been a huge part of CCDI since the start. Not only being the proud face of the program, he truly is one of our biggest advocates & active grads who gives back & represents the core mission.
Malik’s journey into the construction industry didn’t come easy. As one of the first students, he helped to pave the way for those who followed. He graduated from North Technical & received a Build Our Future scholarship becoming one of our first Apprentice Scholars. He took night classes at Saint Louis Community College and LIUNA training center. Malik became a journeymen laborer in less than 2 years while jointly earning a Skilled Trades A.A.S. Malik worked as a laborer for Clayco for 5 years gaining experience & exploring different pathways in construction.
7 weeks ago, Malik was presented the opportunity to be a part of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 562 Champions Diversity Initiative Program. Last Friday, surrounded by an impressive showing of Missouri leadership, he graduated with 13 other champions! CCDI would like to thank Steve Faust for all you’ve done for both Malik & the program!
