3rd Annual Bowling Night
CCDI took over Crest Bowl for our 3rd Annual Mentor-Mentee Bowling Night! We spent the evening enjoying pizza and bowling strikes! Big shout of appreciation to all our mentors for being such great role models for our students. And thank you to everyone for another successful CCDI event!
Job Shadowing
This past week, CCDI students have been job shadowing with the department teams at Clayco. From interiors, accounting, marketing, architecture, design, VDC, and construction management, our students got a glimpse at wide range of potential careers within the construction industry. Thank you to everyone who to the time to work with our students and for helping us build their interest in construction!
Meeting the Governor of Missouri
At the Prop D Rally hosted at Clayco, Governor Mike Parson encouraged Missouri voters to support Prop D because infrastructure and workforce development are the best things for our state’s future. He also met with our CCDI students and was happy to see the steps CCDI is taking toward workforce development.
School Visit
CCDI Mentor Rick Moeckel visited his CCDI Mentee Darius at Missouri Western State University for homecoming weekend. They had a great visit, watched the game together and even enjoyed some alumni sideline access. Rick's family came along for the trip too, bringing Darius some homemade goodies and a care package. Rick is proud of how well Darius is doing at his alma mater and he appreciated the opportunity to spend time with him and meet some of his friends.
Construction Academy: September 2018
CCDI held our second Construction Academy session on September 29th. In this session, student learning was centered around the Clayco Trait of the Month, "Leadership." The attending students heard from guest speakers Jimmy Kisner, Terrance Gant, and Malik Johnson, who are Clayco laborers, as they discussed the career pathway to becoming a laborer and how leadership is modeled in this trade. Clayco's Director of IT and Infrastructure, Jesse Sanders, talked about servant leadership and how Clayco is leading the industry in the field of IT. 3rd Annual CCDI Golf Tournament
CCDI hosted our 3rd Annual Golf Tournament and fundraiser at Glen Echo Country. Special thank you to the many sponsors who made this event possible. The tournament was followed by the cocktail hour and presentation. Thank yous goes out to L.I.F.E. Arts for providing music for the event. Participants heard from Dr. Chris Kilbride, superintendent of Ritenour Schools and how CCDI has impacted their school structure. Mentor David Payne of PayneCrest Electric and Mentee Demarco Poole talked about the CCDI program and how it has been a reciprocal relationship.
