Careers in Construction Month Event

October is Careers in Construction Month and to celebrate CCDI teamed up with North Technical to participate in the #BuildMyFuture event at Saint Louis Community College – Florissant Valley. Over 1,000 area high school students attended today’s event to learn about the many pathways in our industry. Special thanks to Mr. Patrick Hanneken, Mr. Byron Lane and the senior students in the construction program for hosting demo stations where visiting students could practice using hand tools like sawing and hammering! It was a great event! #AGC #BuildingTheFoundationForChange

We had a great turnout of 25 students from North Technical, Innovation, Riverview, Pattonville, University City, Ritenour, McCluer, Lutheran North, Belleville East, Northview, Hazelwood Central, West & East! Special thanks to our Clayco guest speakers: Dan Lester Sr., MCA, Branyea (Bran-Yay) Jones, Jesse Sanders and Tom Sieckhaus. The students had the opportunity to learn about the company, take a tour of the building and then jumped into team building and soft-skill professional development! We are really excited about this year’s class of students and look forward to taking them out on the jobsite in October!

CCDI is proud to support our Build Our Future scholarship students! This year with the help of donations from all our partners, we are assisting students with $135,000 in scholarships!! Wow!

Sending best wishes to 19 of our BOF recipients as they head off to school this week! Many of these students just wrapped up summer internships and had great reports from the companies they were hired at. We hope you each have a successful semester at school and do well in your studies! Keep working hard towards your goals!

Construction Academy: April 2022

Big thanks to S. M. Wilson & Co. for hosting our April Saturday Academy jobsite visit this past weekend at the Spoede Elementary project in the LADUE SCHOOL DISTRICT! The CCDI students had the opportunity to meet the project team and learn about each of their career paths in the construction industry. They spent time reviewing the project blueprints and got to go on a tour of the jobsite followed by a lunch with the project team! So many great questions! Thank you so much to the S.M. Wilson staff for coming out on your day off to speak to our students and provide this educational, hands-on learning opportunity. Special thanks to Maggie Farrell who always goes above and beyond and for Building The Foundation For Change.
